In his debut solo exhibition, David Parker surveys both the physical and psychic landscape of suburbia, exploring how its expansive yet stifling atmosphere affects him as an artist. In his video Land Reclamation, the mud-covered Parker emerges, prairie-dog style, from a hole in the ground and slowly consumes a large map. In one work from Escape Strategy — a series of large-scale glossy photos — Parker attempts a superheroic but futile flight by jumping from a trampoline. And in a third piece, a trap door appears on his manicured lawn as an ominous hatch surrounded by a white picket fence. (AM)
